If you are from Norway and are interested in road bicycle racing, then you must be aware of Thor Hushovd. This 34 year old is the first Scandinavian to win the world championship in road cycling race.
Being famous for time trailing and sprinting he is the first Norwegian to lead Tour de France. He is also the first of his clan to be the winner of numerous Grand tours.
Before turning professional in 1998, thor Hushovd won several championship before like Paris–Tours and Paris–Roubaix. He also won time trail championship in 2004 and 2005 as well the road race championships in the year 2004 and 2010. Having won seven UCI ProTour races in 2006, he is the most popular sportsman among his contemporaries, and continued racing in spite of having major injuries. His outstanding skills made him successful in Giro d’Italia in 2007. Thor Hushovd performed very well in 2008 Tour de France, Volta a Catalunya, Tour Méditerranéen, Paris–Nice, to name a few.
In 2009 he rode for Cervélo TestTeam and exhibited his talents in the Tour of California, Tour de France, Tour of Missouri, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Tour du Poitou Charentes et de la Vienne, Volta a Catalunya, and many more.
In 2010, he met with an accident and broke his collarbone. However he recovered soon and performed as per expectations of his followers. He cleared the first stages of many championships like Tour de France, UCI Road Race World Championship, Tour of Britain, Tour de Suisse, Vuelta a España, National Road Race Champion as well as Paris–Roubaix and made his fans proud of him.
Thor Hushovd is one of the most promising and talented cyclist of his time. He has immense talent and great potential to emerge out as a pioneer in this field.
